After the astounding success of Ms Gwendolyn Ruais who almost won the tittle last year at the Miss World beauty pageant held in London England, another Filipina with classic mestiza beauty is set to capture the most elusive Miss World crown.

The queen and her 4 princesses grace the send-off party: From L-R:Ms April Love Jordan (3rd Princess), Mary Ann Misa (1st Princess), Vanessa Ammann (2nd Princess) and Brenna Gamboa (4th Princess)
In its 62nd year of existence, no Filipino has ever worn the blue crown yet. The closest feat recorded in the history of Philippine pageantry was on 1973, when Ms. Evangeline Pascual almost became the first Pinay to be crowned Miss World by winning first runner up. Her victory was duplicated after 39 long years! when the Filipino-French model Ms Gwendolyn Ruais almost snatched the tittle and lost the crown by just a single point to Ms Ivian Sarcos - Colmenares of Venezuela, the reigning Miss World.

The 23 year-old beauty pageant veteran has earned the rights to represent the country by winning the Miss World-Philippines 2012 last month held in a glittering ceremony at the Tent City inside the Manila Hotel. She is set to fly early this week to Ordos, Inner Mongolia, China  where she will be competing against the world's most beautiful women. A total of more than 100 gorgeous queens from around the globe are expected to arrive and participate in the oldest surviving major international beauty pageant.

Is she the one destined to bring home the most coveted Miss World crown? Will she become the first ever Pinay in history to break the record? Let's keep our fingers crossed and try to find out come August 18, 2012.
