Newly crowned Miss World-Philippines Megan Young is all set and ready for the 63rd edition of the globe's biggest and oldest Miss
World beauty with a purpose pageant which will be held in Sentul Indonesia amidst protests and strong opposition from the hardline Islamic groups in the Muslim-majority country.
All hopes and aspirations were on Megan to capture the most elusive crown of Miss World as no Filipino yet has ever worn the crystal blue-embellished tiara since the pageant's genesis. It could be remembered that the closest feat was the first princess achievement (equivalent to first runner-up) of Gwendolyn Ruais last 2011 duplicating the win of Evangeline Pascual in 1973 and surpassing Ruffa Gutierrez's second princess finish in 1993.
The stunning actress-turned-beauty queen will be departing from Manila en route to Jakarta, Indonesia on September 3rd. The competition officially opens on September 8th in Bali, a Hindu-majority island known for its pristine beaches. A whirlwind of activities will soon follow before the crowing of the new Miss World 2013. I personally wish Megan Young nothing but the best, and may God lead her way as she represents our country to the world. And most of all may God keep her safe in Indonesia as she competes and win the Philippines' first Miss World crown.
