The Fashion Designer in Me: National Costume Designs for Mary Jean Lastimosa

Miss Universe-Philippines 2014 Mary Jean Lastimosa

One of the most anticipated events in Miss Universe pageant is the National Costume Presentation. It is when we see the 80+ most gorgeous women from the different parts of the globe wearing their respective national dresses which greatly  embody the rich and colorful cultural heritage of each country they represent. And nothing can be more exciting than seeing our country's bet Mary Jean "MJ" Lastimosa garbed and all glammed-up in a purely authentic, Pinoy-designed, non-Barraza national costume ensemble. A wannabe-fashion designer I am, here are my top three national costume designs for my beloved Miss Universe-Philippines:

Warrior princess of Cotabato-inspired national costume.

"Kalivungan Festival"Tribal -inspired national costume. Kalivungan is a grand festival held annually in the province of Cotabato where Mary Jean Lastimosa spent her childhood years.

The Philippine Terno national costume.

Which one of the designs above do you like best for MJ to wear? Is it the smoldering hot warrior princess-inspired suit, the effervescent Maria Clara mermaid-cut terno or the flamboyant tribal masterpiece? Care to choose?
