I love eating fruits! Almost everynight, I would go to the 'Big C' Central Supermarket here in Pattaya which is just a stone's throw away from my accommodation and the hospital where I work to buy some fresh combination of dragon fuit, pineapple/honeydew melon and a good chunk of orange-colored-flesh papaya, neatly sliced and packed in one container for a very affordable price. Aside from the fact that it's incredibly delicious, I feel greatly rewarded for its awesome health benefits. And here are some other good reasons why you too, should start including fresh papaya in your daily diet:
2.Packed with Beta Carotene which has a powerful antioxidant ability. Promotes healthier vision, sperm production and maintenance of epithelial functions, growth and development.
3.Contains Folic Acid (Folate) which is a water-soluble B vitamin (this is particularly beneficial to pregnant women) that helps reduce the risk of birth defects affecting the baby's brain and spinal cord (Neural Tube Defect). It also helps in Red Blood Cell formation.
4.Rich in Pantothenic acid or Vitamin B5 which is widely known for its benefits in treating chronic mental disorders like stress and anxiety. It has also been clinically proven to alleviate conditions like Asthma, Hair Loss, Allergies, and Heart problems. It also helps to boost immunity, reduce Osteoarthritis and signs of aging!
5. Garbed with Magnesium which helps normalize blood pressure, strengthens bones, and stabilize normal heart rythym.
6.Enriched with Potassium which is the major positively charge ion in the intracellular environment. Promotes cardiovascular health and efficient heart function.
7. Armed with Arginine which enhances male virility and improves prostate health. Recent studies have shown that arginine is important to sperm count and motility. It is also essential for a healthier blood circulation and strong erections in men! So it's an urban myth that it affects fertility.
8.Packed with Papain which is an enzyme beneficial for efficient digestion. Proven to help reduce the risk of colon cancer.
9. The black seeds of papaya are edible and can be effective to expel parasitic worms. It is even used to treat Liver Cirrhosis.
10. Papaya contains anti-inflamatory properties which can be helpful in the treatment plan for inflamed tonsils, wounds, and inflammatory conditions such as arthritis, osteoarthritis and the likes.
Warning: If one is allergic to latex, avocados or bananas, it's possible to have a cross reaction with ripe papaya. In this case, it's recommended to consume well-cooked papaya. This way, the "chitinases" compounds that are related with allergic reactions when consuming these products, will be totally destroyed during cooking.
