Puerto Rican beauty Valerie Hernandez emerged victoriously as Miss International 2014. She managed to outshine around 80 beauties worldwide vying for the 54th edition of the Japanese-based beauty pageant. She was crowned by last year's winner Bea Rose Santiago of the Philippines in a gallant ceremony held inside the Grand Prince Hotel in New Takanawa, Tokyo, Japan.
Proclaimed as First Runner-Up was Zuleika Suarez of Colombia followed by Punika Kulsoontornrut of Thailand as Second Runner-Up. Completing the winning circle were Victoria Tooby of United Kingdom as Third Runner-Up and Mila Romppanen of Finland as Fourth Runner-Up.
Comprising the Top Ten Finalists were as follows:
1. Argentina - Josefina Jose Herrero
2. Brazil - Deise Benicio
3. Colombia - Zuleika Suaréz
4. Finland - Mila Romppanen
5. Indonesia - Elfin Pertiwi Rappa
6. Mexico - Vianey Vasquez
7. Panama - Aileen Bernal
8. Puerto Rico - Valerie Hernandez
9. Thailand - Punika Kulsoontornrut
10. United Kingdom - Victoria Tooby
Surprisingly, Philippines' bet Bianca Guidotti didn't even make it as one of the finalists despite her topnotch performances in the competition. Her possible downfall could be her untoned waistline which was quite underwhelming in still photographs as well as the lackluster evening gown she wore during the finals but nevertheless she was able to carry it well with poise and graceful elegance.
Valerie Hernandez is the 54th Miss International titleholder and the second beauty from Puerto Rico who won the Mikimoto crown after Laurie Tamara Simpson Rivera nabbed their first win last 1987.
Congratulations to the winners as well as to all the ladies who have done their bests for the competition!
