Newly-crowned Miss World 2014
And we have our new Miss World!

Twenty-two years old, fourth year medical student Rolene Strauss from South Africa outlasted 121 world-class beauties from across the globe during the coronation finale last night (Sunday) held inside the Excel London ICC Auditorium in the English capital. Rolene whose parents are both health professionals gave a confident response to the final question on why she should become the next Miss World. Poised and ever graceful, the South African charmer replied that  "Unity, respect, forgiveness exist and are the aspirations of the Miss Worl Organization. Humanity, forgiveness and peace are important..the qualities which I have". She further stated, that she would be proud to represent an organization that is a beacon of hope to the world. Her sincerity coupled with her eloquence and brilliant answer won the judges' nod and earned her the bejeweled Blue Crown. Last year's winner Megan Lynn Young from the Philippines crowned her as this year's Miss World at the end of the spectacular event.

Philippines' Valerie Weigmann made it to the Top 25! Since 2003 the delegates from the countries of the reigning Miss World titleholder ended up clapping in the finals, Valerie was still luckier enough to break the 'curse' and landed in the 17th spot of the Top 25 Quarter-finalists. She was still able to continue the Philippines' Semi/Quarter final streak since 2011 under the leadership of MWP Director Madame Cory Quirino.

Welsh actor and tv presenter Tim Vincent, Mr. World Canada 2013 Frankie Cena and the outgoing Miss World 2013 titlist Megan Lynn Young were the hosts of the pageant's final event. The latter is legendary for being the very first Miss World titleholder who hosted the pageant's coronation within her reign as well as the very first winner whose contract with the organization is extended for two more years.
