A month after the disappointing result of the politically-laden Miss World 2016, Cory Quirino, the Philippines' National Director for the Miss World pageant has finally given up the local franchise. It can be recalled that the recently-concluded Miss World 2016 pageant had been marred with controversies. The pageant enthusiasts lambasted the Miss World Organization for being unfair and unethical after it allowed the National Directors in the judging panel. Two of the Top Three eventual winners of the Miss World 2016 placed with their National Directors as the judge.

Julia Morley, the CEO of the Miss World Organization personally awarded Cory Quirino with the franchise license of Miss World in 2011 after it was held by Stella Marquez Araneta, (the head honcho of Binibining Pilipinas Charities Inc.) for nearly two decades.

Quirino is well-loved by the Filipino pageant fanatics. She's been known to have an 'eye for exquisite beauty' and has been crowning Filipinas of international calibre since she stepped in as the National Director for the

Miss World Philippines.  In fact, all her wards were able to place in Julia Morley's pageant since she acquired the franchise in 2011 and it was under her management when Megan Young finally won the Philippines' first Miss World crown in 2013.

Quirino first sent Gwendolyn Ruais in 2011 who almost clinched the title and was awarded First Runner-Up duplicating Evangeline Pascual's feat in 1973. The year after, Queneerich Rehman scored a Top 15 placement in 2012 followed by the historic win of Megan Young in 2013. Valerie Weigmann landed as a Quaterfinalist in 2014 with a Top Ten finish of Hillarie Parungao in 2015 which was then followed by the Third Runner-Up honors of Catriona Gray after an impressive performance in the controversial Miss World 2016 pageant.

When asked who will continue the license, Quirino said that "it will be assigned to someone else, hopefully a friend or an associate whom I already introduced to the Miss World Organization".

"Thank you for supporting me all these six years, and for being part of our challenges and victories. I will never forget you," she added.
