Special Feature: Mariel de Leon on Attaining the Impossible Dream

Among the winners of this year's Binibining Pilipinas, Miss International Philippines 2017 Mariel de Leon stood out to be the one who has an almost impossible mission to accomplish and that is to score a back-to-back win in the annually-held Miss International beauty pageant in Tokyo, Japan.

Binibining Pilipinas-International 2017 Mariel de Leon crowned by
Kylie Verzosa, Miss International 2016
The reigning queen is Kylie Verzosa who is also from the Philippines and for the record no back-to-back victory has ever achieved in Miss International pageant since its inception in 1960. And to make it more extra challenging for Mariel, every delegate from the reigning country went unplaced since 2011. The more recent ones who clapped were Jessica Duarte of Venezuela last year with fellow Venezuelan Edymar Martinez as the reigning titleholder and Bianca Guidotti of the Philippines in 2014 with fellow Filipino Bea Rose Santiago as the Miss International 2013. Their exclusion in the Top 15 were shocking since Jessica Duarte and Bianca Guidotti were heavy favorites and were considered front-runners in their respective competitions. And this only proves that the Miss International Organization seems to dislike the idea of having a double victory for a single country for two consecutive years.

This article is not to discourage Mariel and her throng of ardent supporters

in the upcoming Miss International 2017 pageant but this will serve as an eye opener for the possible harsh realities that may happen in the competition. This will also help in assessing what have been missed out during the last six years when all of the delegates of the reigning countries went empty handed in the contest. So this will somehow help Mariel in her preparations to craft an excellent game plan on how to approach the competition and possibly score a first back-to-back victory in the Miss International pageant.

Mariel de Leon has the intricate qualities that the Japanese organizers would surely love in their winner. Her physical beauty, sweet personality and intellect are very fitting for the Miss International mold. And to top it all, knowing how Spiritual Mariel is, her greatest weapon for sure to topple the uncertainties in her Miss International journey would be her fervent prayers
not only prayers uttered from herself but also from her loved ones, friends and supporters. If Mariel's primary intentions of winning will benefit many and if victory is in accordance to His will, nothing is impossible with God.

I really don't want to sound like 'religious' because I'm not (and my friends know that), but sinner as I am, this text in the Bible has a special place in my heart and it has greatly helped me in so many ways than one. It says in the book of Jeremiah 33:3 "Call unto Me and I will answer thee, and I will show thee great and mighty things which thou knowest not."

So for Mariel de Leon who is aiming for a historic back-to-back win in Miss International pageant, there is indeed a great hope for you. Have faith in the Almighty One above and forget not to summon Him in your journey towards the crown. God bless!

Trivia: The Philippines has won 6 Miss International crowns with numerous runners-up honors and Semi-final placements. The country is next to Venezuela with 7 crowns. The latest Filipino victor is Kylie Verzosa, the reigning Miss International 2016.
